Saturday, November 9, 2013 my son and his partner of 21 years finally married. We’ve considered them married, called Jeffrey our son-in-law and in every way but legally, they’ve been married for many years. But legally counts!

Thanks to the decision of the Supreme Court in June, same sex couples can once again marry in California and thanks to the decision on DOMA, they now have over 1,000 federal rights and benefits afforded opposite sex couples.

Those who decry same-sex marriage as an institution that will destroy traditional marriage have never attended a same-sex wedding. The love between two people knows no gender. When I witness the love between same-sex couples I am always struck by the fact that it is no different than the love shared by my husband and me.

Take a look at some photos from my son’s wedding.
