I recently wrote about same-sex marriages beginning in Maine. I came across this article on SheWired. Click the link to see it, it’s really quite wonderful!
A picture really is worth a 1,000 words. Each couple getting married holds up a sign with the number of years they’ve been together before being allowed to legally marry. That says something, doesn’t it? Then in the next picture, each hold a sign with one word describing their partner.
While the memory of that day and that moment will likely last forever, that photo will bring it back in ways that mere memory cannot. The photo has body language, facial expression and that one word chosen to describe the person he or she loves the most in the world and is finally able to marry. The whole picture says so much.
It reminds me why we take picture and why it is so important to document them, to share them, to protect them. Are you doing all that with your most important photos?
