This has been a year of pride for me and my family. My husband and I have marched in TWO pride parades this year! We were privileged to march with our son and son-in-law in Los Angeles Pride on June 8th. You can read about it and see photos by clicking the link on Los Angeles Pride.
Yesterday, June 29th, we marched in San Francisco Pride with PFLAG members from around the Bay Area. I love the feeling of being in San Francisco during the parade. Everyone is in a festive mood and the costumes both in and out of the parade are amazing! I’ve posted some photos at the bottom of this post so you can get a flavor of it.
My personal favorite part of the parade was meeting Sebastian and his family. Sebastian is a rainbow kid. He loves pink and ruffles and dresses. He sometimes uses male pronouns and sometimes female. She loved posing for me for these two photos. Sebastian is such a lucky kid to have parents who love her just the way she is and allow her to express herself in the ways that make her shine. I fell in love with her instantly. I hope I will know her family for a long time so I can watch her grow and develop into the person she is meant to be.
It’s been a long time since I marched in a parade but I can’t wait to do it again next year!
